Music Director Bruno Ferrandis has announced the Santa Rosa Symphony's 84th performance season. Ferrandis, who begins his sixth season in 2011-2012, continues to program a mixture of music from ballet and opera as well as familiar, beloved repertoire from classical masters, and to introduce the work of living composers.

Once Upon A Circus

SEASON OPENING GALA FUNDRAISER

The Symphony's annual gala takes on a playful, magical tone with "Once Upon a Circus." This fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and silent auction. Attendees can trade black tie for circus attire if they wish, and yes, those are really juggling clowns! Pianist Natasha Paremski, guest star of the October concerts, provides dinner entertainment worthy of the greatest show on earth. The dinner hour also features a live auction.

All proceeds support the Symphony's artistic and music education programs.

Tickets are $200 per person before September 2, $225 per person thereafter.

Our annual series of choral concerts in area churches offers a unique pairing of two composers at the apex of their powers. Bach and Handel were each 22 years old in 1707 and writing some of their finest and most exciting music. Robert Worth conducts the Sonoma Bach Choir and members of the Santa Rosa Symphony in a unique Baroque program of four works—all Psalm settings—that balance each other by alternating sacred seriousness and joyful exuberant moods.
