Your contribution assists members of the four
Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Ensembles (SRSYE)
to share their gift of music with others. Through
these programs musicians from across Sonoma
County, ranging in age from 7 to 19, collaborate
with one another and receive training from professional
musicians. This prepares them to perform
for over 6000 elementary school children in
free concerts, put on a 7 concert youth ensemble
series, and participate in other community performance
partnerships each year. Many of these
young musicians continue to play in college and
even go on to perform professionally.
The four Santa Rosa Youth Ensembles are:
The
Preparatory Orchestra, a full orchestra
for beginning students between ages 7 and 13.
The
Discovery Orchestra, a full orchestra for
intermediate to advanced students.
The
Young People’s Chamber Orchestra , a
small ensemble focusing on advanced string technique
and repertoire.
The
Youth Orchestra is an advanced college
preparatory and pre-professional training full
orchestra.
The mission of the Santa Rosa Symphony (SRS)
education department is to continue to transmit
the profound legacy of classical music. Today the
SRS is widely recognized for one of the most
comprehensive music education programs in
California.
