Training Young Musicians
History
The Santa Rosa Symphony's Youth Ensembles have been in operation for over 50 years, making it among the oldest orchestra programs for youth in California. Accomplishments of our orchestras include tours and performances in Germany, New York, the Czech Republic, Carnegie Hall and Davies Symphony Hall, as well as award-winning performances in the Berkeley Junior Bach Festival, international cultural exchanges, and civic citations for excellence in community service.
Membership in the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Ensembles requires participation in all rehearsal and performance activities scheduled for your respective orchestra. In addition, all required auditions and registration-related materials must be completed. Membership promotes responsibility, focus, a strong work ethic, positive social skills and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Since 1959, the Training Young Musicians program has provided a strong foundation for music professionals as well as accomplished professionals in other fields. Alumni perform with numerous professional ensembles throughout California, including the Santa Rosa Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, San Francisco Opera Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, Oakland Symphony, Musica Angelica, Sacramento Symphony and Napa Valley Symphony.
